Upamecano Leaves France Camp

The France national team will be without an important player for its next UEFA Nations League match. Dayot Upamecano left Les Bleus' camp on Saturday and will return early to Bayern Munich after being suspended for the game against Belgium.

The 27-year-old defender was sent off during France's 1-1 draw with Italy on Friday at the Stade de France. Upamecano received his second yellow card in the 85th minute, leaving Zinedine Zidane's side with 10 men for the closing stages of the match.

The automatic suspension means the center back will not be able to play on Monday, October 5, when France hosts Belgium once again at the Stade de France.

Zidane Loses an Important Piece in Defense

The absence forces Zinedine Zidane to make changes to his defense for the next match. Upamecano had established himself as an important part of the French back line, meaning the coach will have to find a new center-back partnership against Belgium.

With no possibility of playing due to the suspension, the French Football Federation decided to release him from the squad. Upamecano left the camp on Saturday morning and is now back at the disposal of Bayern Munich.

Among Zidane's alternatives are Maxence Lacroix and Jérémy Jacquet, who could take on bigger roles in the absence of the Bayern defender.

Bayern Gets Upamecano Back Early

The situation will allow Bayern Munich to have its defender back earlier than expected. Upamecano will have several days to rest and prepare for the return of club action after his international window came to an early end.

The Bavarian side will return to action on Saturday, October 10, when it visits Augsburg in the Bundesliga. That will give the center back almost a full week to prepare for the return to competition.

While Zidane will have to reorganize his defense for the match against Belgium, Bayern Munich gets one of its regular starters back early ahead of the return of the Bundesliga.
