Women's Champions League: Barca top standings after dominant win, Juve beat Atletico
Barcelona are one of three teams to boast a perfect record in the Women's Champions League, with superior goal difference putting them top.
Barcelona cruised to a 3-0 win over OH Leuven to maintain their 100% record in the Women's Champions League, with Alexia Putellas and Irene Paredes among the goals.
Barca fired off 18 shots throughout the first half but did not inch ahead until the first minute of stoppage time, with Putellas converting from the penalty spot following a foul from Linde Veefkind.
Kim Everaerts then put through her own net just before the hour mark, as Barca continued to lay siege to the Belgians' goal.
Paredes completed the scoring off Mapi Leon's set-piece delivery in the 67th minute, as Barca went top of the 18-team group on goal difference, ahead of Lyon and Manchester United.
Leuven are ninth on four points, sandwiched between Juventus and Atletico Madrid after the Italian side won 2-1 in the Spanish capital.
Amaiur Sarriegi put Atletico ahead in the 39th minute, but Emma Stolen Godo equalised with a stunning free-kick deep into first-half stoppage time.
Juventus captain Barbara Bonansea then got the winner in the 56th minute, taking Juve to six points from their first three matches.
Elsewhere, Benfica and Twente played out a 1-1 draw in Lisbon, with Cristina Martin-Prieto firing a spectacular effort into the top-right corner to open the scoring for the hosts.
But Lynn Groenewegen levelled following a great pass from Leonie Vliek in the 69th minute, with the draw leaving both sides in the elimination places, with Twente on two points and Benfica on one.
Data Debrief: Leuven lucky to avoid heavier defeat
It was a convincing victory for Barca, but they should have won more handsomely at Estadi Johan Cruyff, where they had 43 shots with a total expected goals (xG) value of 5.68.
That is the most xG generated by any team in a Women's Champions League game this season.
Barca have previously generated more xG in two other games in the competition, against Rosengard in 2022 (5.78) and Hammarby in 2024 (5.84). The all-time record is Arsenal against Zurich in 2022, when the Gunners racked up 7.32 xG.
