(VIDEO) Harry Kane's Goal Leads England Past Andorra
Harry Kane once again became the hero for England, scoring the only goal of the match against Andorra to maintain a perfect start on the road to the 2026 World Cup.
A Tougher Match Than Expected
England secured its third consecutive win in World Cup qualifying with a narrow 1-0 victory over Andorra, thanks to a 50th-minute strike from Harry Kane. With this result, Thomas Tuchel's side now has a perfect nine points in Group K.
From the start, England dominated possession but struggled to break through Andorra's solid defensive line. Missing key players such as Bukayo Saka, Ollie Watkins, Phil Foden, and Jarrod Bowen, Tuchel fielded a competitive lineup featuring stars like Jude Bellingham, Cole Palmer, and Kane.
The first half saw the British side push forward continuously, but without scoring. Noni Madueke had a clear opportunity, denied by a fine save from goalkeeper Iker Álvarez, who also stopped a close-range effort from Kane.
Kane Breaks the Deadlock, Álvarez Prevents More
The only goal of the match came five minutes into the second half. After a clever pass from Curtis Jones, Álvarez managed to stop the initial shot, but the rebound fell to Madueke, who set up Kane for a simple finish.
Andorra failed to mount a comeback and rarely threatened. England, without much brilliance, could have extended the lead through Eberechi Eze, but once again, Álvarez came to the rescue to keep the score close.
Despite the narrow win, questions remain about England’s attacking play. Still, with three wins from three, they are well on track for the 2026 World Cup.
Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is set to join Real Madrid, came on in the second half, while Declan Rice remained on the bench. Coach Tuchel continues to experiment with his squad, which, while not entirely convincing, keeps collecting wins.
