Brazil to Face Argentina Without Two Star Players; Raphinha, Vinícius Jr. at Risk
The Argentine national team faces a major challenge right after their match against Uruguay, as they take on Brazil in another classic South American showdown to conclude this FIFA window. However, just as Argentina has been weakened by injuries, the "Canarinha" will also be without two key players.
Brazil Suffers Two Major Losses
A total of nine Brazilian players were at risk of suspension before their match against Colombia, where they secured three crucial points. Ultimately, Bruno Guimarães and Gabriel Magalhães received yellow cards and will not be available.
Bruno Guimarães was booked 16 minutes into the first half, and Gabriel Magalhães followed suit near the end of the opening period. As a result, both will serve their suspensions and miss the highly anticipated South American classic.
These absences are significant, considering their importance to coach Dorival, as both are regular starters. While Joelinton was also shown a yellow card, it was his first, meaning he will be available to play.
Vinícius Jr. and Raphinha Avoid Suspension
Among the players who had to tread carefully to avoid suspension were Vinícius Jr., Rodrygo, and Raphinha — the key contributors to Brazil's 2-1 victory over Colombia. Fortunately for Brazil, none of them received a booking, allowing them to remain available as major threats against Argentina.
The highly anticipated clash between Argentina and Brazil is set for March 25 at Estadio Monumental.
