Dorival Júnior Praises Rodrygo and Raphinha
Brazil’s head coach, Dorival Júnior, showered praise on players like Rodrygo (Real Madrid) and Raphinha (Barcelona) on Thursday, as both were called up for Brazil’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Colombia and Argentina.
Versatile Players for the National Team
Dorival Júnior emphasized how difficult it is to categorize players with such versatility like the two mentioned. “It’s hard to label them. They’re versatile players who can play in one way or another,” the Brazilian coach said in a press conference. He also highlighted their ability to adapt to different positions on the field.
Raphinha's Evolution
Regarding Raphinha, Dorival Júnior pointed out that he has played various roles for the national team, ranging from right-back to winger on both sides, and even as a second striker. "He adapts really well to any role and is showing that at Barcelona, playing well in any situation and often changing positions," he said.
Dorival Júnior also took the chance to recall that Raphinha was one of the most criticized players during the last Copa América, but now he’s considered one of the favorites to win the Ballon d’Or. The coach also mentioned Vinícius Júnior, who was also called up, praising his ability to change positions at Real Madrid, playing both wide and centrally, or even as a striker.
Crucial Match for Brazil
Brazil will face Colombia on March 20th in Brasília, and five days later, they will visit Argentina, the current World Cup champions and leaders of the South American qualifiers. These matches are crucial for Brazil, currently in 5th place with 18 points, seven behind Argentina (25), and just one point behind Colombia (19), who are in 4th place.
