River Plate Boasts About the Monumental Victory of Argentina vs Brazil
Julián Álvarez, Enzo Fernández, and Giuliano Simeone, all trained in the River Plate academy, scored against Brazil
Argentina received with pleasure the threats that were made from Brazil ahead of the match… and El Monumental in Buenos Aires witnessed a great celebration where, above all, three players from River Plate were the main protagonists of the match in what was once their home. These players are Julián Álvarez, Enzo Fernández, and Giuliano Simeone.

Three ex-River players shine again at El Monumental
The three players trained at River Plate were key in three of the four goals celebrated by El Monumental against Brazil. The first to score was Julián Álvarez in the 4th minute, and less than 10 minutes later, Enzo Fernández doubled the lead. Later, Enzo provided the assist for the 3-1 goal in favor of Mac Allister… before Giuliano Simeone closed the score at 4-1 just three minutes after entering the pitch, making his debut with Argentina.
Without a doubt, these are three players expected to carry on the legacy of the more experienced players who became champions with Argentina in the 2022 World Cup. In fact, Julián Álvarez and Enzo Fernández had already broken through in Qatar. Now, the next player to begin making his mark is Giuliano Simeone, who this season is experiencing a meteoric rise at Atlético de Madrid that seems unstoppable… and has now reached Argentina.
River Plate keeps generating talent
The rising roles of Julián Álvarez, Enzo Fernández, and Giuliano Simeone in Argentina are a true reflection of the outstanding work being done in River Plate’s academy since Jorge Brito took over the club’s presidency in December 2021. However, this is a long-standing effort, as River is the American club that has sent the most players to the five major European leagues since 2005, with a total of 51.
The latest to make the jump to Europe is Claudio Echeverri, who recently joined Manchester City after finishing his participation in the South American U-20 Championship with Argentina. The next one to follow, and it won’t take long, is Franco Mastantuono. At just 17 years old, he has already earned a place at River Plate and has been catching the attention of Europe’s top clubs… with Real Madrid leading the way.
