The Beating by Argentina... Once Again Puts Ancelotti on the Bench for Brazil!
The name of Carlo Ancelotti is back on the table to coach Brazil in the 2026 World Cup
No one is unaware that Carlo Ancelotti is the top choice to take over the Brazil bench for the 2026 World Cup by the Brazilian Football Confederation. In fact, it seems like the only reason that could justify the continuation of Dorival Junior in his position after the last Copa América. However, the beating Argentina handed them at El Monumental has once again put Ancelotti's name on the table for Brazil.

Dorival Junior takes responsibility
Although the qualification for the 2026 World Cup is not in danger, even though it is not mathematically secure yet, Brazil is experiencing the worst South American Qualifiers in its history under the leadership of Dorival Junior. However, the CBF does not seem to have any intention of firing him in the short term despite the humiliating loss to... nor does he have any intention of stepping down as head coach, at least not until the World Cup qualification process ends.
"The responsibility is all mine. Argentina was superior, superior in every way. It is very difficult and very complicated to try to explain a situation like this. We couldn't impose what we wanted at any point. It is natural that a result like this hits us hard. It’s a feeling we all share," acknowledged Dorival Junior in a press conference, admitting he considers himself the main person responsible for the defeat.
Ancelotti will only leave Real Madrid if he doesn’t win La Liga or the Champions League
Now, just because the CBF isn’t planning to part ways with Dorival Junior doesn’t mean they aren’t closely watching any moves around Carlo Ancelotti. “If he hadn’t won anything, Real Madrid would have fired him, and Ancelotti would have come. But he won the Champions League and stayed for another year,” recently confessed Ronaldo Nazario, who acted as an intermediary to make Ancelotti the new coach of Brazil.
Carlo Ancelotti's situation at Real Madrid is clear, and they’ve made it known to him weeks ago: his contract expires in 2026… but his continuation depends on the trophies won at the end of the season. If he doesn’t win La Liga or the Champions League, he could be dismissed, as reported by ‘The Athletic.’ However, it is a threat contingent upon the arrival of Xabi Alonso, who, day by day, seems to be growing more inclined to stay for another season at Bayer Leverkusen.
