(VIDEO) Paris’ Heartfelt Tribute to Rafael Nadal
Rafael Nadal was honored in grand style in Paris, with a giant 10-meter-tall video projection in the famous Trocadéro Square, offering a breathtaking view of the Eiffel Tower.
The one-minute video was shown from 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM local time, as part of an event organized by his sponsor Nike. This tribute was part of a series of events marking his announced retirement after the final stage of the Davis Cup, taking place this week in Málaga.
Paris was chosen as the location due to Nadal’s historic record at Roland Garros, where he has won a record 14 titles between 2005 and 2022.
The tribute coincided with Nadal's return to the court for what is set to be his final professional tournament, as Spain faces the Netherlands in the Davis Cup quarterfinals. Nadal, who has won 22 Grand Slam titles, was defeated by Dutch player Botic van de Zandschulp, with a score of 6-4, 6-4. If Spain is eliminated, this could be Nadal's last professional match, though he could play more if Spain advances to the Friday semifinal.
