Dzeko signs one-year deal with Schalke
Edin Dzeko has signed a new one-year deal with Schalke.
The 40 year-old spent the second half of last season with Schalke, helping it secure promotion to the Bundesliga after winning the German second division.
Dzeko made an immediate impact in Germany, scoring six goals and providing three assists in 11 games, six of which were starts.
"Since winter, I've experienced a fantastic team and amazing fans at Schalke," Dzeko said. "Promotion to the Bundesliga is one of the highlights of my career. It was extraordinary.
"Football has made me happy and driven me my whole life. I'm still hungry. And I want to help our team in the Bundesliga as well."
Dzeko has previous Bundesliga experience, representing Wolfsburg between 2007 and 2011.
He scored 66 goals and registered 20 assists in 111 appearances in the competition, while also winning the league title in 2008-2009.
Schalke begins its 2026-2027 Bundesliga campaign on 30 August away to Augsburg, while its first home game comes against reigning champion Bayern Munich six days later.
