Kane bags seventh Bundesliga hat-trick for Bayern
Harry Kane scored two penalties and a goal from open play as he netted yet another hat-trick for Bayern Munich as it won 3-0 over a stubborn Augsburg at Allianz Arena.
It is the seventh time Kane has collected a match ball since joining the Bundesliga leader in 2023, a remarkable statistic given he scored eight in the Premier League across more than 10 years with former club Tottenham Hotspur.
He is now also the fastest player to 50 Bundesliga goals, completing the half-century in his 43rd match, comfortably beating Erling Haaland's record, who did it in 50 games for Borussia Dortmund.
It took some time for Bayern to break the visitors' resilience, though, as club football got back into action after the international break.
Kane, who scored for England during that break, got his first opportunity from the spot in the 63rd minute after a Mads Pedersen handball in the box.
Nediljko Labrovic, who had been a hero for Augsburg in goal during the first half, was sent the wrong way, and for a time it looked like that would be enough for the league leader.
But in stoppage-time, Kevin Schlotterbeck committed a foul in the box, resulting in him receiving a second yellow card and subsequent red, and Kane was on hand again to double the lead as Labrovic went the wrong way for a second time.
Just two minutes later, Kane completed his treble and added further gloss to the scoreline, collecting Leon Goretzka's cross on his outstretched right foot before heading the ball into the back of the net.
The win extends Bayern's lead at the top of the Bundesliga to eight points ahead of second placed RB Leipzig, while Augsburg is 13th on the table after a third straight game without a win.
