Vinicius Souza swaps Sheffield for Wolfsburg
Vinicius Souza has left Sheffield United for Bundesliga side Wolfsburg in a deal reportedly worth €15 million ($27 million).
The Brazilian joined Sheffield United ahead of its 2023-2024 Premier League campaign after an eye-catching loan spell with Espanyol, impressing despite the Blades' relegation.
He won 75 tackles that season, the most in the Premier League, with only then-Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha (152) and Wolverhampton Wanderers' Joao Gomes (128) attempting more than his 125.
Vinicius then played 35 times as Sheffield United narrowly missed out on a top-flight return last season, finishing third in the EFL Championship and losing to Sunderland in the play-off final.
After the Blades' failure to get back to the big time, they have sanctioned his move to Wolfsburg on a five-year contract.
The 26-year-old joins a Wolfsburg side that finished 11th in the German top flight in 2024-2025. It opens its new campaign against Heidenheim on 24 August (AEST).
