Will Still sacked by Southampton
Southampton parted ways with manager Will Still after just over five months in charge.
Still was announced as Southampton's boss shortly before their final Premier League game in 2024-2025, ahead of its relegation to the Championship.
However, the Saints have struggled on their return to the second tier, sitting 21st in the table with only a three-point buffer to the relegation zone.
Southampton suffered its third straight defeat on Sunday, losing 2-0 to Preston North End after losses to Bristol City and Blackburn Rovers.
It has won just one of its last 11 matches in all competitions, beating fellow struggler Sheffield United at the end of September.
"Will is a great person who gave everything to try and improve performances and results," Southampton's technical director Johannes Spors said in a statement.
"Ultimately, that process has taken longer than any of us would have liked. By making a change now, we believe it gives us the best chance of turning things around this season and climbing back up the league table.
"I would like to thank Will, Ruben [Martinez], Clement [Lemaitre] and Carl [Martin] for their efforts and wish them well for the future."
Still took charge of 13 matches in the Championship, winning just two of those (D6 L5), leaving the club with a 15.4 percent win rate under him.
It scored just 13 goals in that time, conceding 19, and averaged 0.9 points per game under Still's management.
Under-21s head coach Tonda Eckert will take over on an interim basis.
