Espanyol springs huge surprise at Rayo Vallecano
Espanyol produced arguably its best performance on the road this season to record a thumping 4-0 win at Rayo Vallecano in LaLiga.
The visitors were ahead inside 12 minutes when Leandro Cabrera found the back of the net, and four minutes later the lead had been doubled by Roberto Fernandez.
Captain Javi Puado made it three from the penalty spot midway through the second half before Pere Milla added further gloss to the scoreline with his side's fourth goal in the final minute of normal time.
The win lifted Espanyol to 15th on the table with 32 points, while Rayo Vallecano, which was disappointing all night, remains in eighth position with 40 points.
