Getafe scores first open-play goals in win
After playing more than 20 hours of football so far this season, Getafe scored its first and second goals from open play to complete a 2-0 win over struggling Real Valladolid and move clear of LaLiga's relegation zone in the process.
Getafe had only scored from set-piece situations before this match, and for a time it looked as if neither side would be able to break the deadlock in a match short on both quality and goalmouth action.
But that all changed in three second-half minutes as first Alvaro Rodreiguez found the back of the net for the hosts in the 70th minute and then Allan Nyom fired home in the 73rd.
The win puts Getafe on 13 points, three clear of the drop zone, in which Valadolid is mired, second-last on the standings with only nine points from its 14 matches so far.
