Navas bids tearful farewell to Sevilla faithful
Jesus Navas was an emotional wreck as he played his final home match for Sevilla, a 1-0 win over Celta Vigo in LaLiga.
The former Manchester United winger was honoured before kick-off by a guard of honour made up of both sides, entering the field with his sons and replicas of all the trophies he has won during a glittering career with the Spanish club.
Navas's final match will be at Santiago Bernabeu against Real Madrid next week, but this was his last appearance as a Sevilla player at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium, the result was most fitting.
Having composed himself to play the match, Navas was in piece again on 71 minutes as he was substituted off to huge praise and cheers from all inside the stadium.
Navas, 39, is retiring because of a chronic hip injury.
"I can't take it any more," he has said of the pain it causes.
He posted on social media: "Hard to sleep, wish time would stop.
"So many memories and emotions lived together, and amazed by so many displays of affection.
"Happy for so much, how much I love you my Sevilla.”
Sevilla is 10th on the table after the win with 22 points, which came after a goal from Manu Bueno in the 65th minute.
Celta Vigo is 12th, just a point worse off in a congested mid-table of the competition.
