Arsenal's Jesus to undergo surgery on ACL injury
Arsenal has confirmed Gabriel Jesus has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury and will undergo surgery.
The Brazilian was taken from the field on a stretcher in the first half of Arsenal's FA Cup third-round loss to Manchester United after twice going down to receive treatment.
Mikel Arteta had confirmed that the club was "very worried" about the extent of the injury, and Arsenal has since confirmed he had sustained the injury to his left knee.
Jesus has scored three goals in the Premier League this season from an expected goals (xG) total of 3.0 in 17 top-flight appearances, but has started just six games.
Overall, Jesus has netted seven times in all competitions this season, including a hat-trick against Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup.
The striker joins Bukayo Saka and Ethan Nwaneri on the sidelines, leaving the Gunners with Kai Havertz as their sole striker option.
