Mac Allister hopes Liverpool trio will stay
Alexis Mac Allister is hopeful Liverpool can keep Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah at Anfield after the club made contract offers to the trio.
Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk and Salah are all set to enter the last six months of their respective contracts with Liverpool, with the future of Salah in particular being a talking point in recent weeks.
The Egyptian, who already has 21 Premier League goal involvements in 2024-25 (13 goals, eight assists), recently suggested he was "more out than in", in comments that drew criticism from Reds legend Jamie Carragher.
Alexander-Arnold, meanwhile, has been strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid and Van Dijk has reportedly rejected the opening contract offer put to him by Liverpool.
However, Sky Sports reported that "positive" talks had taken place with all three players, and midfielder Mac Allister is desperate to see them agree fresh terms.
"Hopefully Trent and Virgil can continue with us, along with Salah," Mac Allister said. "Alexander-Arnold is crucial as we saw against Manchester City when he came back from injury.
"Like Salah, he is in negotiations and hopefully he can continue in the team."
Alexander-Arnold, with 25, is second to Salah (26) for chances created among Liverpool players in the Premier League this term, though his defensive attributes have been criticised in the past.
Mac Allister, however, values his team-mate's work both with and without the ball, adding: "His quality is enormous.
"I have always said that he was criticised for his defensive role, but I have no doubt that both in defence and attack he can make the difference.
"He is also strong and quick, which allows him to find that balance between attack and defence."
Liverpool, which saw its scheduled trip to Merseyside rival Everton postponed last weekend, visits Girona in the Champions League on midweek before hosting Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday (AEDT).
