Maddison lifts Spurs to win over Manchester United
Tottenham earned back-to-back Premier League wins with a 1-0 home triumph over under-pressure Manchester United.
Having beaten Brentford two weeks ago to end a seven-game winless run, Spurs earned their first victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium since early November.
They had to survive a flurry of early chances, with the returning Guglielmo Vicario denying Rasmus Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho with an early double save.
James Maddison then got the all-important goal just minutes later, turning in the rebound after Lucas Bergvall's shot was parried by Andre Onana.
Garnacho squandered a glorious chance shortly afterwards, blazing over under no pressure, while Vicario denied him twice with smart saves in the second half.
United was unable to find an equaliser despite applying plenty of pressure, while Mathys Tel's attempts to get a goal on his Premier League debut were thwarted by Onana.
The host side moves up to 12th in the table on 30 points, leap-frogging United, which sits one point and three places below it.
