Mbeumo hails 'fantastic' Frank after Brentford departure
Thomas Frank brought Bryan Mbeumo to Brentford, and the forward expects him to do well with his new venture at Tottenham.
Bryan Mbeumo heaped praise on his old Brentford head coach, Thomas Frank, and believes he will do well at Tottenham.
Frank replaced the recently sacked Ange Postecoglou at Spurs last week, ending a nearly seven-year stay at Brentford.
In that time, the Dane led the Bees to the Premier League for the first time in their history, while their 10th place finish in 2024-25 was their second highest in the competition.
Frank brought Mbeumo to Brentford in August 2019 for a club-record fee at the time. He has since made 242 appearances for the club in all competitions.
He played in every Premier League game last season, producing his best return as he netted 20 goals and produced eight assists.
In fact, only Mohamed Salah (29), Alexander Isak (23) and Erling Haaland (22) score more goals in the league than Mbeumo.
And Mbeumo expects Frank to make his mark with Spurs in the upcoming season.
"He's done so much for me. He literally trusted me from the start," Mbeumo told Sky Sports. "I think he developed the team so well.
"He developed me as a human and a player as well. So I can only wish him all the best, and I'm sure he's going to do well.
"I think he knows everything. He's really smart. He knows where he wants to bring the team, how he wants to play. I think he's been fantastic for Brentford.
"I think he's going to have some time to adapt, obviously. [Champions League] games, more expectations, as you said, but I'm sure he's going to do well.
"He knows how to talk to people. He knows how to build a group. And that's why we've been playing so well."
Brentford's set-piece coach, Keith Andrews, is reportedly one of the front-runners to take over as Frank's successor.
However, Mbeumo's future at the club is in the air, with reports suggesting he is attracting a lot of interest this transfer window.
Some are linking him with a move to join Frank at Tottenham, while Manchester United are also reportedly in the race for his signature.
"It [transfer speculation] is a bit new for me, I would say!" Mbeumo added.
"I think it can be the life of a footballer, and you need to accept it.
"It's been my best season so far in the Premier League. And even collectively, I think we did play very good games. I think we've been unlucky to chase the Europe spot, but I think it's been a fantastic season."
