Munetsi hails Edwards' 'amazing' impact at Wolves
Wolves are rock bottom of the Premier League, but have a new head coach in Rob Edwards, who will take charge of his first game this weekend.
Marshall Munetsi has lauded the "amazing" impact new head coach Rob Edwards has had since taking over at Wolves.
Edwards was appointed last week, having left Middlesbrough to take up the opportunity to take over at the Premier League's bottom club.
Wolves have taken just two points from their 11 league matches so far, and are seven points adrift of 19th-place Nottingham Forest.
That form saw Vitor Pereira, who was given a new contract earlier this season, dismissed, but Munetsi feels Edwards is already bringing around improvements.
"It’s been amazing," Munetsi, speaking to Wolves' official website, said of the first week under Edwards, whose first game in charge comes against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
"The way he has had an instant impact, because he’s a person who knows the club, so for him coming in, he really knows what he’s doing and his training sessions are really good.
"He has also addressed some of the key areas that we need to improve, and those are some of the things that he really specified that we need to improve on and work on.
"That’s something that we also need to implement as players to make sure that we improve the whole team in general.
"He has really spoken about us being more solid, trying to keep more clean sheets, because we’ve been conceding a lot of goals.
"Those are some of the key areas that, come Saturday, we really need to show what we have been training with him this week.
"For him to accept the job, we knew already what the club means to him. Even for the supporters, the way they received him was really special and it also helps you know the cause.
"He will help us as players to understand the club better, to understand the city better, and that will help us to connect as a team and this is something that could be very special."
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Wolves – Jorgen Strand Larsen
Strand Larsen was excellent for Wolves last season but has only netted one league goal in nine appearances this term.
However, he did score for Norway in their 4-1 rout of Italy in World Cup qualifying last week, so will be hoping to carry that form back to the Premier League.
Crystal Palace – Ismaila Sarr
No Palace player has scored more goals in all competitions this season than Sarr (eight).
However, more than half of his goals (five) have come outside the Premier League (one in the Community Shield, two in the EFL Cup, two in the Conference League).
MATCH PREDICTION: CRYSTAL PALACE WIN
Wolves have failed to win any of their 11 Premier League games this season (D2 L9), only failing to win any of their first 12 in a league campaign in 1983-84 (14).
Only seven teams have been winless in their first 12 Premier League games of a season, though three of those ultimately survived relegation (Everton 1994-95, Derby County 2000-01 and Newcastle United 2021-22).
Palace have won 57% of their Premier League games against Wolves (8/14), their highest win rate against any side they’ve faced more than 10 times.
Having won three of their first five Premier League games against Palace (D1 L1), Wolves have now won just one of their last nine against the Eagles (D1 L7).
Wolves have conceded exactly three goals in each of their last three Premier League games, losing 3-2 against Burnley and 3-0 against both Fulham and Chelsea. They last conceded 3+ goals in four consecutive league games back in September 1985 in the third tier.
Palace have, though, lost their last two Premier League away games, as many as they had in their previous 18 (W9 D7). They last lost three in a row in February 2024.
OPTA WIN PROBABILITY
