Juventus moves back into fourth as Verona fades
Teun Koopmeiners's late goal sealed a 2-0 victory for Juventus over Hellas Verona, putting Thiago Motta's team fourth in Serie A.
Koopmeiners added gloss to the win in the final minute of normal time when he drilled home from a tight angle.
Verona, which is four points clear of the relegation places, thought it had taken the lead late in the first half, but Tomas Suslov had a goal disallowed for offside.
But with Verona having frustrated Juve, which had 12 shots in the first half, Khephren Thuram finally broke the its resolve in Turin in the 72nd minute.
He found a way past the impressive Lorenzo Montipo with a first-time finish from Andrea Cambiaso's pass, and Koopmeiners was then on hand to seal the victory.
Juve is now six points behind Serie A leader Inter Milan, but two above fifth-place Lazio in the race for UEFA Champions League qualification.
It has now won three consecutive league games without conceding, the first time it has done that in a single Serie A campaign since it went on a run of four such wins between October and November 2023.
