Tudor not worried by Juve defence ahead of Verona
Juventus will be hoping for a more straightforward affair this weekend when it makes the trip to face Hellas Verona in Serie A.
Coach Igor Tudor has said he is not concerned about his side's defence, despite it conceding seven goals across its past two games.
Juventus maintained its perfect start to the Serie A campaign, edging a seven-goal thriller with fellow title hopeful Inter Milan 4-3 thanks to Vasilije Adzic's stoppage-time stunner.
Tudor's team was then staring down the barrel of a first defeat of the season in its UEFA Champions League opener versus Borussia Dortmund at Allianz Stadium in midweek.
Dortmund was 4-2 in front in the 86th minute, only for Dusan Vlahovic and Lloyd Kelly to rescue a point in the dying embers of an enthralling European clash.
"Two matches are behind us and forgotten. The focus is entirely on the next game; there are no excuses. We need to play a great, serious match," Tudor said as he previewed Sunday's (AEST) trip to Hellas Verona.
“If we play at 100 per cent and we impose ourselves, we can win. If we drop to 90 per cent, we struggle. We need an extraordinary performance to achieve what we want, with no excuses.
"When we talk about goals conceded, you need to look at the context. If it ends 4-4 or 4-3, it’s a different concept than 3-0. There's no point in over-analysing.
"We need to understand the meaning of the match. A 4-3 win against Inter is great; a 4-4 draw against Borussia Dortmund is good. They are two top-level European sides."
Given Juventus's recent vulnerability at the back, many supporters have questioned Michele Di Gregorio's position between the sticks for the Serie A giant.
But ahead of the trip to Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi to face Verona, Tudor further reiterated his trust in his goalkeeper.
"There's no rotation. Di Gregorio is a really good goalkeeper. He's made almost no mistakes," Tudor added.
"He will be the first-choice keeper all year because he's strong. I watch a lot of matches, and in every game I see goalkeepers making mistakes.
"I don't see those mistakes from my goalkeeper. I'm very happy with him. Out of the seven goals conceded, Di Gregorio was only slightly involved in one."
Tudor was also on hand to discuss Vlahovic's start to the campaign, with his strike against Dortmund his fourth goal from the substitutes bench in 2025-2026.
The Serbian has six goals in seven games across all competitions this season, a total only bettered by eight players across Europe's top five leagues.
Vlahovic was linked with a move away from Turin over the summer, but Tudor believes his striker has regained his focus at a crucial time.
"He's less worried and more focused. That's important for him; being clear-headed about what he has to do, when he's like that, is an essential detail for him," Tudor said.
