Galatasaray claims dramatic derby over Fenerbahce
Galatasaray took a step closer to the Turkish Super Lig title by thumping 10-man Fenerbahce 3-0 at RAMS Park.
Victor Osimhen, Baris Alper Yilmaz and Lucas Torreira were all on target for the hosts, with Fenerbahce given a mountain to climb after Ederson's 62nd-minute red card.
It could have been so different for Fenerbahce, which was awarded an 11th-minute penalty after Davinson Sanchez fouled Sidiki Cherif, but Talisca drilled his spot-kick narrowly wide.
Galatasaray dominated after that and finally got its reward five minutes before the break, with Osimhen latching on to Mario Lemina's flick and lifting the ball over Ederson with his thigh.
Talisca's long-range drive skimmed the outside of the post just before the break, but Fenerbahce got a reprieve in the 57th minute as Torreira's low strike was ruled out for offside.
Ederson was given his marching orders five minutes later; both of his bookings were for dissent, with the second shown to him after Jayden Oosterwolde had brought down Yunus Akgun in the box.
Yilmaz converted the resulting penalty with 67 minutes on the clock, and Torreira made sure of the victory with seven minutes remaining, pouncing on a loose ball to volley home after substitute goalkeeper Mert Gunok had spilled a corner in a collision with his own team-mate.
