Elliott grabs late winner for Liverpool over PSG
Harvey Elliott scored a late winner as an Alisson-inspired Liverpool snatched a dramatic 1-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 showdown.
Just 46 seconds after coming on, Elliott found the net with his first touch - and what was the Reds' first shot on target - in the 87th minute to give his side the advantage in the tie.
It was a real back-to-the-wall performance by Arne Slot's side, which thought it had fallen behind in the 20th minute.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia neatly curled beyond Alisson, only for his effort to be ruled out for offside following a VAR review.
PSG continued to carry the greater threat throughout the first leg, with Alisson producing smart saves to deny Kvaratskhelia, Bradley Barcola and Ousmane Dembele, and keep the hosts at bay.
Yet, there was to be a late twist with just three minutes remaining.
Having absorbed all of its opponent's pressure, Alisson's long kick was won in the air by Darwin Nunez, who laid the ball off for Elliott to beat Donnarumma with a neat first-time finish.
