Nagelsmann to stay as Germany boss until 2028
Julian Nagelsmann has signed a contract extension to remain in charge of Germany through to UEFA Euro 2028.
Former Bayern Munich coach Nagelsmann took over on a two-and-a-half-year deal in September 2023 after the dismissal of Hansi Flick.
He made a positive impact ahead of UEFA Euro 2024, which Germany hosted.
Nagelsmann's team, which included young stars Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz, reached the quarter-finals on home soil. It was knocked out by eventual champion Spain after a 2-1 extra-time defeat.
Its run to the last eight was its best at a major tournament since UEFA Euro 2016, when it reached the semi-finals.
While he was initially only due to stay on until after the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Nagelsmann will now be in charge of the national team for another two years after that.
"When I came to the DFB in September 2023, I could not have imagined being a national coach beyond the home Euro," Nagelsmann said.
"This great feedback that we all receive every day, shows us that our journey together is on the right path. We want to win titles together."
Germany is also one of the eight teams to have qualified for this year's UEFA Nations League finals.
