Konate signs four-year deal with Real Madrid
Real Madrid confirmed the signing of France defender Ibrahima Konate on Thursday, with the former Liverpool centre-back agreeing a four-year contract until June 2030.
The Spanish giants announced that they had reached an agreement with Konate, who joins the club following the expiry of his contract at Anfield.
The 27-year-old arrived at Liverpool from RB Leipzig in 2021 and went on to make 183 appearances for the club.
During his time on Merseyside, Konate helped Liverpool win the Premier League title in 2025 and the FA Cup in 2022 among other honours.
Currently with France at the World Cup, Konate becomes the latest addition to a Real Madrid squad undergoing significant changes ahead of the new season.
The defender joins new head coach Jose Mourinho, while Spain international Marc Cucurella and Portugal midfielder Bernardo Silva have also arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu this summer.
Madrid have also been linked with Inter wing-back Denzel Dumfries as they continue to reshape their squad after two consecutive seasons without a major trophy.
The club recently extended Antonio Rudiger's contract until 2027, while Dani Carvajal and David Alaba departed following the expiration of their deals.
