Manchester United vs Galatasaray – Preview
Everything you need to know ahead of Man United taking on Galatasaray at Old Trafford
Manchester United will be eyeing their first points of the season on Tuesday evening when they host Turkish Champions Galatasaray at Old Trafford. As ever, you will be able to watch the game exclusively with beIN SPORTS.
After losing five of their first seven games in the Premier League, Manchester United have recorded their worst start to a league season in 34 years. Last weekend’s 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace left the Red Devils in 10th position in the table, and for the first time in his tenure leaving head coach Erik ten Hag under considerable pressure.
Whilst a lengthy injury list coupled with some off-field issues for key attacking players has played a part in the current malaise at Old Trafford much of the focus will be on how the Dutch tactician can bounce back yet again and put together a winning run to get United back on track.
Man United are already playing catch-up in the Champions League after a 4-3 defeat to Bayern Munich in Matchday 1. Whilst the result would suggest a close contest, Bayern dominated large swathes of the game in Munich, before Man United fought back thanks to a late, late brace from Casemiro.
As for Galatasaray, they are currently sitting in second place in the Turkish Super Lig just two points behind bitter rivals Fenerbache. Former Manchester United winger Wilfried Zaha registered his first goal for the club over the weekend in what proved to be a comfortable 2-1 win against MKE Ankaragücü.
After a busy summer on the transfer front recruiting a host of former Premier League players including Hakim Ziyech, Wilfried Zaha and Tete the Turkish giants are looking to make a big impact in the Champions League after navigating the qualification rounds to make the tournament. Last time out in the Champions League, Galatasaray fought back from 2-0 down to secure a late 2-2 draw against Copenhagen courtesy of Sacha Boey and Tete.
