Real Madrid take on Champions League debutants Union Berlin on Wednesday evening looking to make a solid start to Group C.
Los Blancos have made a perfect start to the La Liga season so far, and picked up a come from behind win against Real Socidad at the weekend courtesy of goals from Federico Valverde and veteran striker Joselu.
As for Union Berlin, they have had a mixed start to the Bundesliga campaign picking up two wins and two defeats from their opening four games. Last time out Union slumped to a frustrating 2-1 defeat at the hands of Wolfsburg, hardly the best preparation ahead of a big game at the Santiago Bernabau.
Union who are taking part in the competition for the first time in their history significantly bolstered their squad in the summer signing the likes of veteran defender Leonardo Bonucci, USA attacker Brenden Aaronson and German international Robin Gosens. It remains to be seen how the Bundesliga team will get on in Europe’s top club competition.

This will be the first ever competitive meeting between Real Madrid and 1. FC Union Berlin, with the German side set to become Real's 150th different opponent in all European competition.
Union Berlin are the fifth side to face Real Madrid in their first ever UEFA Champions League match, with each of the previous four losing (Internazionale 1998, Roma 2001, BATE Borisov 2008, Zürich 2009).
Union Berlin will be the 15th different German side to feature in the UEFA Champions League, the most unique clubs to feature of any nation. Only three of the 14 previous German teams to play in the competition have won their first ever game (D4 L7), with Bayer Leverkusen (1997-98), Kaiserslautern (1998-99) and Wolfsburg (2009-10) doing so.
