Gittens goal not enough to deliver Dortmund a win
Borussia Dortmund's search for an away win continues after it drew 1-1 away to Borussia Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga.
Nuri Sahin's side went a goal up 20 minutes into the second half through a wonderful solo effort from Jamie Gittens, but wwasere pegged back six minutes later by a Kevin Stoger penalty.
Dortmund has taken only two points from its six away games in the league and is fifth on the table, 12 points behind leader Bayern Munich.
Gladbach, meanwhile, is 11th in the Bundesliga on 18 points and was also reduced to 10 men in stoppage-time after 89th-minute substitute Tomas Cvancara picked up two bookings in as many minutes.
The hosts almost grabbed a winner with nine minutes to go, although Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel was able to tip Robin Hack's shot on to the crossbar to keep them level.
It was Dortmund that ended the game by applying the most pressure, although it was unable to find a breakthrough, which means its away-day troubles continue.
Dortmund is now one of just five teams in the league yet to win on the road.
Sahin was left "hurt" and frustrated after the game.
"It is frustrating that we did not kill off the game, that we did not score a second goal," Sahin said.
"It hurts and is maybe more frustrating than the away defeats before. But we will learn from this."
Dortmund also lost Niklas Sule and Maximilian Beier to injury.
The duo is now doubtful for Dortmund's UEFA Champions League meeting with Barcelona.
"This is like a bad joke to be honest," Sahin, who has had to grapple with a long injury list all seen, said.
"I don't know if I have done something wrong to have that many injures.
"Obviously after having taken them off, they are doubtful for Wednesday [Thursday AEDT]."
