It was a day of celebration at Coventry Building Society Arena, as Frank Lampard's team basked in the glory of promotion and winning England's second-tier title.

Wrexham, though, was out to spoil the party and boost its own promotion hopes. A win would have seen it consolidate its place in the play-offs with just one game to play.

Brandon Thomas-Asante tucked in from Ephron Mason-Clark's teasing cross to get the ball rolling for Coventry in the 19th minute.

However, Oliver Rathbone drilled in at the end of a sweeping Wrexham attack to stem the home team's celebrations.

George Thomason struck the post before half-time, but Wrexham could not make its momentum count, and in the 80th minute, Torp got his free-kick up and over the wall and beyond Danny Ward.

Kieffer Moore headed over from close range, but Wrexham's comeback hopes were quashed when Mason-Clark steered home in stoppage-time.

Wrexham must now beat Middlesbrough on the final day if it is to finish in the top six, with Hull City hot on its heels.
