Botafogo edges out Estudiantes in epic
Defending champion Botafogo picked up a cruciat 3-2 win over Estudiantes to throw Copa Livertadores Group A wide open with one match to play.
Goals to Rwan Cruz and Igor Jesus lifted the Brazilian giant to a 2-0 lead midway through the second half, before a quick-fire brace to Tiago Palacios had the Argentinians level at 2-2 heading into the final phase of the match.
Artur Guimaraes grabbed a late winner for the home side which moved it level on nine points with Estudiantes, one behind group leader Universidad de Chile, which scored a resounding 4-0 win over Carabobo on Wednesday.
With only two knockout round qualification spots up for grabs, and one point between them, the top three will have it all to play for on the final matchday of the Group stage.
