Neymar trains for first time since World Cup arrival
Brazilian star Neymar trained on the sidelines for the first time since arriving in the U.S. for the World Cup.
The forward performed running drills and worked out with a member of coach Carlo Ancelotti's staff, as seen in videos released by the Brazil Football Confederation. The confederation called the training, "another step in (Neymar's) recovery process."
Neymar, 34, suffered a Grade 2 right calf injury 17 May while playing for Santos and hadn't been seen training with Brazil in the month since.
Brazil played to a 1-1 draw with Morocco. They next play Haiti on Saturday, then faces off with Scotland on June 24 to complete Group C competition.
The team hopes that Neymar will return to play for the knockout stages.
"Neymar is working very hard to recover as quickly as possible," Ancelotti told reporters before the Morocco game. "The expectation is that he will recover and rejoin the group next week."
Neymar last played for Brazil on 17 October, 2023, when he tore the ACL and meniscus in his left knee in a South American qualifier against Uruguay.
