Amorim claims everybody wants to play for United
Ruben Amorim insists "everybody wants to play for Manchester United", with the head coach adamant the club's poor season will not prevent it from landing its transfer targets.
The Red Devils are 14th in the Premier League, having suffered 15 defeats, the most for the club in a single campaign.
Nevertheless, Amorim's side can still qualify for next season's UEFA Champions League by winning the UEFA Europa League, in which its is drawn to play Athletic Club in the semi-finals.
Yet, even if it is unable to secure European football for 2025-2026, the head coach is convinced top players would still jump at the chance to sign at Old Trafford.
"It's Manchester United," Amorim said. "What I feel is that there are a lot of players that want to play for our club.
"I know that if you look at our club at the moment, with all the problems with the staff, people going, changing coach, the results, it looks like a little bit of a problem. But we have a clear idea.
"That is the easiest part to explain to a player. And then, it's Manchester United. Everybody wants to play for Manchester United."
Amorim has an "idea" of players he wants to bring in and move on during what is expected to be a busy transfer window at Old Trafford.
However, he insists there is still time for him to be won over by his current squad.
"I think Casemiro is the best example," he said. "He was a player that wasn't playing. And then you see the last games, he's playing a part, and he's performing quite well, and he's playing all the time.
"So, I'm not that kind of coach that doesn't change. I like to change my mind. If they change my mind, I'm really happy with that. I just want to win and put the best players in our team."
The Portuguese also addressed speculation linking United with a move for Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha.
"I will not say anything about Matheus because if I say one time, I will have to say for any situation that is yes or no," the head coach added.
"So, I will not comment on that. We are focused on this season. Even the way we are going to prepare for the next season could change in these games. So, it's hard to predict what is going to happen in the future."
