The points were split in a breathless Premier League encounter between Aston Villa and Brentford, which finished 2-2.
Aston Villa 2-2 Brentford: Ajer salvages point in four-goal thriller
Aston Villa and Brentford shared the spoils in a thrilling 2-2 draw at Villa Park, with quickfire goals in both halves.
Saturday's contest at Villa Park featured two sets of quickfire goals, with Brentford going ahead early on, being pegged back and, eventually, having to rescue a draw themselves.
Tyrone Mings' sloppy pass gifted Brentford a chance in the 10th minute, with Yehor Yarmoliuk on hand to drill home from the edge of the Villa box.
Yet Nicolas Jackson restored parity within two minutes when he latched onto a deflected effort and coolly tucked in.
Caoimhin Kelleher made a superb double save on the stroke of half-time, denying Jackson and John McGinn.
McGinn, however, seemed to have put Villa on course for their first home win of the season in the league when his effort deflected in off Kristoffer Ajer in the 77th minute.
Ajer, though, had the final say, brilliantly cutting inside from the left flank to meet Jaidon Anthony's pass, before dribbling his way through a crowd of defenders and slotting home a sublime equaliser just two minutes later.
Quickfire goals galore
The old adage says a team is never more vulnerable than they are after they have just scored. And that was certainly the case here.
There were only 88 seconds between Yarmoliuk's opener for Brentford and Jackson's equaliser for Villa.
And in the second half, just 146 seconds separated the McGinn and Ajer goals.
Brentford became the first side since Liverpool in 2018-19 to open the scoring in each of their first six Premier League games of a season, while the Bees are unbeaten when scoring first in their last 17 league matches, since November 2025 against (W10 D7).
Villa, meanwhile, have failed to win any of their opening three home games in a league campaign for the first time since 2015-16, when they were without a win in their first nine league matches at Villa Park (D3 L6).
But Unai Emery will be buoyed by Jackson's form.
Jackson has scored in successive Premier League games for the first time since December 2024, while he now has three goals against Brentford in the competition, only registering more against Tottenham (five) and West Ham (four).
