Pochettino rules out returning to Spurs
Former coach Mauricio Pochettino ruled out a return to Tottenham Hotspur to replace Ange Postecoglou, claiming it was unrealistic.
Postecoglou was sacked barely two weeks after he ended Spurs' 17-year drought by winning the UEFA Europa League title. However, Spurs also recorded their lowest-ever Premier League finish of 17th.
While Thomas Frank is reportedly the front runner, United States coach Pochettino has been linked with a move back to his former club.
The Argentine spent five and a half years at Tottenham between 2014 and 2019, taking charge of 293 matches, winning 159 of them, a 54.3 per cent win rate.
Pochettino also led them to the UEFA Champions League final in 2019 and the Carabao Cup final in 2015, losing to Liverpool and Manchester City, respectively.
However, the 52-year-old, who became United States head coach in October 2024, says he has no intention of leaving his current role.
"[Right now], it's not realistic," Pochettino said after the USA's 2-1 defeat to Turkiye.
"Look where I am. Look where we [his backroom staff] are. The answer is so clear.
"I think, since I left in 2019, my name has always been on the list [of rumours].
"I've seen the rumours; we are 100 coaches on the list. Don't be worried about that.
"If something happens [in the future], you for sure will see, but I am so happy in this moment, and we cannot talk about this type of thing."
