Conceicao takes first league win in Milan comeback
AC Milan came from a goal down to win 2-1 at Como in Serie A after quickfire second-half goals from Theo Hernandez and Rafael Leao granted coach Sergio Conceicao his first win in Serie A.
Como shocked Milan on the hour when new signing Assane Diao's low shot beat Mike Maignan inside his near post.
But Hernandez levelled for Milan in the 71st minute with a volley from close range, before Leao put the visitors in front five minutes later.
The winger raced through and dinked a fine finish over Como goalkeeper Jean Butez to snatch all three points.
Conceicao's first league victory as Milan boss builds on the side's recent success in the Supercoppa Italiana as it looks to climb the table.
This was the seventh time Milan has conceded first in Serie A this season, and it had not won any of the previous six, drawing two and losing four.
But Conceicao has already made the Rossoneri kings of the comeback since taking over, sensationally overturning deficits against both Juventus and Inter Milan to win the Supercoppa Italiana.
That same spirit was on show again here as Milan scored with its final two shots and then held out under late pressure.
It is the third time in Conceicao's four games in charge that Milan had fallen behind and had to come from behind to win.
"We weren't 100 per cent effective, far from it," Conceicao said. "Better in the second half, but as a team, we have to be more solid, not allow the opponent to come out easily ... We have the quality to not concede a goal like today."
It was a fairly even game, with both teams managing 12 shots, though Milan slightly edged the efforts on target, with six to Como's four.
The visitors were stunned when Diao beat Mike Maignan with a low strike inside the near post, but subsequently scored with their final two shots and held out to win.
"We faced a good team and it wasn't easy," Conceicao said.
"We prepare for the matches with a board and video, but on the pitch, several things are missing in [different] departments.
"We need to be more present in the duels, offensive and defensive, but there is always a good reaction. Working on positive results is easier and we will look for them, but we need to improve a lot."
Milan, which has in the UEFA Champions League with four consecutive victories, has recently struggled in Serie A, winning just one of its previous five games before this one.
"The character is there," Conceicao added.
"We can improve physically, tactically and technically. As for attitude, they have to get certain things into their heads by themselves, I can talk for two hours but without that it's difficult.
"Now we also evaluate the players' muscular problems. We have to improve the physical level to play the kind of game I want. There's a lot of work."
