Inter lashes Lecce to seal landmark Inzaghi win
Inter Milan moved back to within three points of Napoli at the top of Serie A, thrashing Lecce 4-0 in what was Simone Inzaghi's 200th victory as a coach in the league.
Inter broke the deadlock after just six minutes when Marcus Thuram skilfully worked his way into the box before crossing for Davide Frattesi to volley home.
Lautaro Martinez doubled the lead six minutes before half-time, darting into the area before firing into the top corner.
The skipper turned provider in the 57th minute when he found Denzel Dumfries, who drilled past Lecce goalkeeper Wladimiro Falcone from a tight angle.
Mehdi Taremi added further gloss to the scoreline just after the hour, sealing the victory from the penalty spot after Falcone felled Frattesi.
Speaking after the match, Inzaghi said: "There is no fear, just a lot of respect for two very good teams, who have fine coaches and play good football.
"I said in July that this would be an open title race and this is what is happening. Napoli and Atalanta are doing something extraordinary, as are Inter.
"We had a great approach to the game and I congratulated the team for that, but it was not easy, as we returned home on Wednesday at dawn," Inzaghi said, referring to their midweek win at Sparta Prague in the UEFA Champions League.
"These lads have been playing every three days for months, it will continue like this, so we need to keep it going."
