Juventus confirms Renato Veiga leg injury
Juventus has confirmed defender Renato Veiga is set for a spell on the sidelines after suffering a leg injury during the UEFA Champions League loss to PSV.
Veiga, who is on loan at Juve from Chelsea, pulled up early on during the Bianconeri's play-off loss.
The Portugal international has since undergone tests at the J Medical centre in Turin, with Juventus providing an update since.
"Renato Veiga, who came off during the first half of the match against PSV Eindhoven, underwent diagnostic tests," a Juve statement read.
"The examinations revealed an injury to the tendon of the plantaris gracilis in his right leg."
The timeline for Veiga's return was not shared, but media reports suggest the 21-year-old will miss between two and three weeks of action.
Veiga joined Juve on loan until the end of the season in January and has started all five of its matches this month.
He impressed in last week's 1-0 Serie A win over Inter, leading the way for touches with 63, completed passes with 41 and clearances with seven.
Fourth-placed Juve returns to Serie A action on Monday (AEDT) with a trip to Cagliari, before hosting Empoli in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals.
