Mourinho backed by Fenerbahce boss Koc
Jose Mourinho remains the right man to take Fenerbahce forward despite its recent struggles, the club's president Ali Koc said.
Fenerbahce is eight points behind Turkish Super Lig leader Galatasaray after 17 games in the Portuguese veteran's first season at the helm.
Mourinho's side also sits 21st in the Europa League table, facing a struggle to reach the knockout stages of the revamped competition.
However, Koc has no concerns over Mourinho's future, suggesting he will take Fenerbahce forward in the longer term.
"Whether we are there or not, Jose Mourinho must continue in his duty," Koc said. "You said 'If you cannot be champions', we will continue on the path we believe in.
"As far as the coach is concerned, we will continue with the coach as long as we live.
"This issue of stability is very important. The man we brought has quality."
Mourinho branded refereeing in the Turkish Super Lig a "scandal" and claimed the league is "toxic" during his latest press conference rant this week.
Rival Galatasaray had claimed a controversial 2-1 victory over Goztepe over the weekend, with Mourinho weighing in with his opinion as pressure continues to mount on the iconic manager.
Mourinho will hope to bounce back when Fenerbahce next visits Kasimpasa in the Turkish Cup on Friday before a crucial league match against Konyaspor four days later.
