Champions League draw throws up huge ties
Liverpool will play Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid will face city rival Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.
Arsenal has been drawn to play PSV Eindhoven and Aston Villa faces Club Brugge in the two-legged ties to be played next month.
There is also a battle between the Bundesliga's top two as Bayern Munich faces Bayer Leverkusen.
Liverpool was the only team to win seven of its league-stage matches and topped the table, but the Reds face a difficult task if they are to reach the quarter-finals.
PSG beat Brest 10-0 on aggregate in the play-off round and boasts one of Europe's most in-form players in Ousmane Dembele.
Holder Real Madrid saw off Manchester City 6-3 on aggregate but will have to do it the hard way if it is to defend its crown, with Arsenal, Liverpool and PSG all on the same side of the draw.
Villa has already been beaten 1-0 by Club Brugge this season but will face it again at Villa Park in the second leg of this knockout tie, while Arsenal also has a home second leg against PSV.
Elsewhere, Benfica will take on Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund will play Lille, and Feyenoord has drawn Inter Milan.
Ties will be played on 5-6 March and 12-13 March AEDT.
