In statements to TMZ Sports, Tyson acknowledged that the fight is something “neither he nor the world thought would happen”:

Tyson, who retired in 2005, has made recent returns to the ring: an exhibition against Roy Jones Jr. in 2020 and his fight against Jake Paul in 2024, where he lost by decision over eight rounds.

Floyd Mayweather’s legacy

For his part, Floyd Mayweather ended his professional career in 2017 with a perfect 50-0 record after defeating Conor McGregor. Since then, he has participated in several exhibitions, though this one against Tyson is undoubtedly the most high-profile.

At 48 years old, Mayweather stated:
