Agustín Tapia and Arturo Coello Consolidate Their Position as the Second Best Pair in the History of Padel
With their victory at P1 Tarragona, Tapia and Coello clinch their eighth title of 2025 and become the second most successful duo in the history of padel, surpassing Lima and Belasteguín.
Tapia and Coello make history in padel after winning in Tarragona
Agustín Tapia and Arturo Coello continue to break records. This weekend, they won their fourth consecutive title of the season by defeating Fede Chingotto and Ale Galán 7-6(3) and 7-5 in a thrilling final at the Tarragona Premier Padel P1.
With this victory, the number one ranked duo now has eight titles so far in 2025 and a total of 37 trophies together, surpassing the historic mark set by Lima and Belasteguín. Now, only one pair stands ahead of them: Fernando Belasteguín and Juan Martín Díaz, who dominated the circuit for more than a decade.
A new classic, but same story
The clash between Tapia-Coello and Chingotto-Galán has already become one of the classic duels of modern padel. Of the 21 matches they have played, 15 have gone to the current number ones, and so far this year, they have beaten them five times, with only one defeat.
The final in Tarragona was no exception: Chingotto and Galán put up fierce resistance, taking the first set to a tiebreak. But Tapia and Coello's offensive power, precision, and defensive solidity made the difference at key moments.
