South Africa defeated Guinea 2-1 in the AFCON 2027 Qualifiers. Ime Okon opened the scoring in the 30th minute, Seydouba Cisse equalized in the 69th, but Samukelo Kabini struck in the 77th minute to seal the victory for Bafana Bafana.

South Africa will host Guinea on Saturday, September 26, at Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg, in the opening round of the AFCON 2027 Qualifiers.

The match will kick off at 9:00 AM ET / 6:00 AM PT and will be available LIVE on beIN SPORTS, with streaming access through beIN SPORTS CONNECT in the United States.

How South Africa Arrive

South Africa begin their qualifying campaign under head coach Pitso Mosimane, who returns to the national team after succeeding Hugo Broos.

The new coach named a 30-man squad for the opening matches against Guinea and Eritrea, introducing five players who received their first senior international call-ups.

The newcomers include Lebone Seema, Brooklyn Poggenpoel, Yanela Mbuthuma, Puso Dithejane and Tashreeq Matthews, who will have the opportunity to establish themselves in the national team.

Captain Ronwen Williams remains among the experienced players available to Mosimane, alongside midfielders Teboho Mokoena and Themba Zwane.

The attacking options also include Iqraam Rayners, Oswin Appollis and Relebohile Mofokeng, as Bafana Bafana prepare to begin a new chapter under their returning coach.

Following Saturday's encounter, South Africa will travel to Cairo, Egypt, to face Eritrea on September 30 in their second Group D fixture.

How Guinea Arrive

Guinea begin their qualifying campaign under head coach Paulo Duarte, who named a 25-man squad for the opening matches against South Africa and Kenya.

The selection includes Serhou Guirassy, the Borussia Dortmund striker who will be one of the main attacking options for the Syli National.

Ilaix Moriba returns to the national team alongside Madiou Keïta and Saïdou Sow, while defender Aboubacar Keïta, who plays for Kalmar FF in Sweden, has received his first senior international call-up.

However, Guinea will be without several established players, including Naby Keïta, Mohamed Mady Camara, Morgan Guilavogui and Issiaga Sylla, who were not included in the squad.

The Syli National will look to overcome these absences and begin their campaign with a positive result as they pursue qualification for the continental tournament.

Following their visit to Johannesburg, Guinea will host Kenya on October 1 in their second Group D fixture.

A Crucial Opening Match in Group D

South Africa and Guinea share Group D with Kenya and Eritrea, making their opening encounter an important opportunity to collect points in the race for qualification.

Unlike most other qualifying groups, Group D has a special qualification rule. Kenya have already secured their place at AFCON 2027 as co-hosts, meaning only the highest-placed team among South Africa, Guinea and Eritrea will earn the remaining qualification spot.

The continental tournament will be hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda from June 19 to July 17, 2027.

With six qualifying matches scheduled for each team, both nations will be looking to begin their campaigns with a positive result as they pursue a place at the continental tournament.
