Revealed: The Iconic Band That Will Feature on Barcelona's Jersey for El Clásico
The Blaugrana club announced that the British band Coldplay will feature on the Barcelona jersey on October 26 at the Santiago Bernabéu.
The Barcelona men's team will display the logo of the British band Coldplay during their match on October 26 at the Bernabéu against Real Madrid, while the women’s team will do so on November 2 against Eibar, as part of the club’s agreement with Spotify, one of its main sponsors.
According to a statement released by the club, for the first time, the proceeds from the sale of the limited-edition match jerseys will be entirely donated to a joint project by UNHCR and the FC Barcelona Foundation.
The logo of the British group that will appear on the jerseys is inspired by their tenth album, *Moon Music*, which was released on October 4.
Coldplay is the most streamed British band of all time on Spotify, with 11 tracks in the Spotify Billions Club — the list of songs that have surpassed one billion streams on the platform, according to the Swedish music streaming company.
One of the band's iconic songs, "Viva la Vida," is associated with the successes of Barcelona under Pep Guardiola in 2009 and is considered the soundtrack of that legendary team that won everything in football.
The jerseys will go on sale this Friday, October 18, and are available for pre-order starting Thursday. There will be two formats: one limited-edition version will consist of 1,899 units with the Coldplay logo, while a more exclusive version will have just 22 units, featuring a fluorescent effect on the logo and signatures from the starting players of both matches — the Clásico and the Liga F game.
Spotify, Coldplay, and FC Barcelona will donate the proceeds from these two collections to a joint project by the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) and the FC Barcelona Foundation.
This appearance of the Coldplay logo marks the fifth activation of the alliance between Spotify and FC Barcelona. Previous collaborations featured Karol G, the Rolling Stones, Rosalía, and Drake.
In a statement shared by the Catalan club, the British band members described it as “an honor” that Spotify chose the *Moon Music* design for the FC Barcelona jersey.
“We have had a special relationship with the city and the Club for many years. We are also proud to support UNHCR in their life-saving work, protecting refugees and displaced people around the world,” they stated.
