Rodrygo Hungry for Revenge: The Brazilian Already Focused on El Clásico Between Real Madrid and Barcelona
Brazilian forward Rodrygo Goes is enjoying a moment of personal and professional fulfillment, and his sights are already set on one of the most anticipated matches of the year: El Clásico between Real Madrid and Barcelona, scheduled for October 26 at the Santiago Bernabéu. In a wide-ranging interview with AS, the attacker spoke about his relationship with Xabi Alonso, the rumors surrounding his future, and the motivation of once again facing their eternal rivals.
The Brazilian forward didn’t hold back when speaking about the upcoming clash with Barcelona. “It’s best to forget last season. We weren’t at the right level in the Clásicos, but this time it’ll be different. We have to plan everything carefully and win no matter what,” he declared.
Rodrygo acknowledged the improvement of the Catalan side but insisted that Real Madrid has a world-class squad and the strength of their home crowd. “They’re doing better, they have confidence and a great team, but so do we. We’re playing at home, in front of our fans, and we have to show who we are,” he said with determination.
The Brazilian also fondly recalled the famous comeback against Manchester City in the Champions League — one of the most memorable nights of his career. “It was the best day of my life. Those two goals in two minutes changed everything. Even now, Madrid fans still write to thank me for that night,” he said.
Maturity and commitment to Real Madrid
Rodrygo also addressed the rumors linking him with a potential move away from the club, making it clear that his intention is to remain at Real Madrid. “Every summer they say I’m leaving, but I’ve always been clear that I want to keep succeeding here. I’ve already won two Champions Leagues, but I want more. As long as Madrid wants me, I’ll be here,” he affirmed.
The forward admitted that last season was difficult for him, both physically and mentally, and expressed gratitude to Carlo Ancelotti, his coaching staff, and his family for their support. “The coach was key. He understood that he had to recover the person before the player. I’ll always be grateful to him,” he said.
Speaking about his current relationship with Xabi Alonso, Rodrygo emphasized the coach’s trust in him and his own willingness to adapt to the team’s needs. “I prefer to play on the left, but if the coach needs me elsewhere, I’ll do it. The important thing is to help the team,” he stated.
With renewed confidence and focus on reaching his best form, Rodrygo heads into El Clásico with one clear goal: to be decisive again and prove why he remains one of the most dangerous attacking weapons in the Real Madrid squad.
