Sergio Canales Responds to Demichelis After the Locker Room Incident at Monterrey
Sergio Canales posted a video on his social media after Martín Demichelis's confession regarding the confrontation they had last week
Even the victory against Chivas Guadalajara to breathe easier in the playoff zone has not been enough to calm the tense atmosphere surrounding Monterrey in recent days. Just days after Martín Demichelis's confession, now Sergio Canales has decided to post a video on social media to respond to his current coach at Rayados.

Demichelis fuels the conflict with Canales
The events go back to last Thursday when, in the Monterrey locker room, Canales and Demichelis had a heated argument that ended with the Spanish player heading to the hospital after injuring his foot by hitting a glass door. Media present at the Rayados training center quickly picked up the story and approached Martín Demichelis's car as he was leaving the training session.
This incident, understandably, caused Sergio Canales to miss the match against Chivas Guadalajara, and instead of calming things down, Martín Demichelis fueled the conflict during a press conference: "It was a week with an important incident for the outside world. But nothing happened that is not normal within a competitive group with players of hierarchy. Unfortunately, it was leaked. If Sergio had hit a wooden door instead of a glass one, it would have stayed a normal situation."
Canales's response to Demichelis
Later, he claimed that the confrontation became public because Canales had told two people in his inner circle about it. After that, it took some time for Canales to share his perspective: "I decided to record this video to put this topic to rest because there has been a lot of talk about it, and I think it’s important for everyone, especially for the team. I just want you to know that I’m very calm and that I have no regrets about anything that happened because, on my part, I did nothing wrong. I never wanted to harm this team, which you know I feel very connected to, and since I arrived, I’ve given my all in every training session and every match,” he acknowledged in a video posted on his social media.
He concluded as follows: “Unfortunately, due to the frustration we all feel when things don’t go well, we had an intense but constructive team talk that has been blown out of proportion due to the accident I had. Obviously, I’m going through a tough time because there has been a lot of talk. There’s been a lot of misinformation. I’ve stayed silent out of respect. You all know my commitment and love for this team, and that’s why I’m making this video, to put an end to this issue. And, above all, on Saturday we have a really important match, and we all need to stay focused and united. Sending a greeting to everyone, and up Monterrey.”
