Olympique Lyonnais had to wait until the closing minutes to find the net and salvage a point at home. Lois Openda struck in the 87th minute to make it 1-1 against Le Havre, who then thought they had snatched the victory in stoppage time before VAR disallowed Sota Nakamura's goal for a handball in the build-up.

The final score did not reflect Lyon's control for much of the contest. The hosts enjoyed more possession and created the better opportunities during a first half that ended without a goal.

Their persistence appeared to pay off shortly after the hour mark.

Corentin Tolisso found the net in the 62nd minute, seemingly giving Lyon the breakthrough. The play was reviewed, however, and VAR ruled the goal out for offside.

Le Havre punishes Lyon against the run of play

The complexion of the game changed in the 74th minute.

Despite Lyon having created the better chances, Le Havre found its opportunity to strike. Substitute Fode Doucoure picked out Ally Samatta, who kept his composure to put the visitors ahead.

The goal forced Lyon to increase the pressure.

Backed by the crowd in their first home league match of the season, the hosts continued pushing until they finally found a way through.

Nakamura scores late before VAR steps in

The equalizer was not the end of the drama.

Deep into stoppage time, Sota Nakamura put the ball into the net and Le Havre briefly thought they had produced a late winner.

The celebrations were cut short.

After reviewing the sequence, VAR identified a handball in the build-up and Nakamura's goal was disallowed.

Lyon mounted one final push for a winner, but neither side managed to break the deadlock again as the match finished 1-1.
