Monaco Announce The Signing Of Paul Pogba
After a long suspension, Paul Pogba returns to professional football and will make his Ligue 1 debut with AS Monaco.
Pogba Gets A Fresh Start In France
This Saturday, AS Monaco officially announced the signing of Paul Pogba, who joins the club on a free transfer after terminating his contract with Juventus in November 2024. The French midfielder signed a deal that will keep him at the club until June 2027.
At 32 years old, Pogba looks to reignite his career in his home country, having been sidelined since September 2023 due to a doping suspension. He tested positive for DHEA, a banned substance, and was initially handed a four-year ban. After an appeal, his suspension was reduced to 18 months. Since March 2025, he has been cleared to return to competitive play.
A Comeback After A Challenging Period
Although he developed at French clubs like Roissy-en-Brie, Torcy, and Le Havre, Pogba never played in France's top division. He made his professional debut in 2011 with Manchester United, but after only seven appearances, he transferred to Juventus, where he enjoyed a standout run from 2012 to 2016—racking up 178 appearances and 34 goals.
He returned to Manchester United in 2016 and played there until 2022, scoring 39 goals in 226 games. His second stint with Juventus, starting in 2022, was plagued by injuries and later the doping suspension that halted his career.
Now, Pogba begins a new chapter in Ligue 1, joining a project led by club president Dmitri Rybolovlev that aims to restore Monaco to the top of French and European football.
The announcement of his arrival has sparked excitement among the club’s supporters, who hope the 2018 World Cup champion with France can bring leadership and quality on and off the pitch.
