After his move to Everton collapsed practically at the last minute, the United States Men’s National Team striker still has options to leave AS Monaco.

The problem is that the landscape is now completely different.

With the Premier League and most of Europe’s major transfer markets no longer able to register new players, Turkey and Saudi Arabia have emerged as the main alternatives for the 25-year-old forward to find a new destination.

AS Monaco have not closed the door on his departure either. In fact, sporting director Thiago Scuro acknowledged that talks are taking place in markets where the transfer window remains open.

From Everton to Searching for a New Destination Within Hours

Everything appeared to be in place for Balogun to return to the Premier League.

Everton and AS Monaco had been working on a deal worth around $45 million and were even granted additional time after the transfer deadline to finalize the structure of the agreement.

Then came the medical.

During tests carried out at Finch Farm, complications emerged that prompted Everton to attempt to change the terms that had initially been agreed. The situation completely altered the deal, and the transfer ultimately collapsed.

According to Thiago Scuro, there was also frustration from the player over the way the entire process unfolded.

Now, Balogun must return to AS Monaco, sit down with the club once again and decide what comes next.

“We are still waiting for Balo to come back and to sit and discuss and to realise between us what is next,” Scuro explained.

The Transfer Market Still Offers Balogun a Way Out

The fact that the transfer window has closed in England does not necessarily mean Balogun must remain in Ligue 1.

That is one of the keys to this entire situation.

The Süper Lig transfer window still provides an opportunity to find a quick solution, while the Saudi Pro League offers an even larger window to complete potential moves.

“We still have other markets open, which we are having discussions in different players including Balo,” Scuro acknowledged.

For AS Monaco, finding a way to move the striker remains a real possibility. The club needs to create space within its squad and generate income after several potential deals changed during the final days of the transfer window.

Balogun now finds himself at the center of that situation.

Balogun Needs Minutes Ahead of an Important Year

The situation also forces the striker to think about his future from a sporting perspective.

At 25, Balogun needs consistent playing time and a team where he can have an important role. Remaining at AS Monaco after the club showed a willingness to negotiate his departure could leave him in a complicated position within the squad.

A move to the Süper Lig would allow him to remain in European soccer, while the Saudi Pro League could provide AS Monaco with the financial power needed to get closer to the conditions they had been seeking in the deal with Everton.

There is still no defined destination or completed negotiation.

What is clear is that the failed move to the Premier League does not necessarily mean the end of the transfer window for Balogun.
