Philadelphia Union v Toronto FC: Iloski targeting MLS Cup victory with Eastern Conference leaders
The Philadelphia Union will look to extend their lead at the top of the Eastern Conference when they face Toronto FC.
Philadelphia Union's new signing Milan Iloski is aiming to win the MLS Cup this season.
Iloski spent the first half of the MLS season on loan with San Diego FC, where he scored 10 goals in just 14 league matches, but the Union have managed to sign him on a permanent deal from Danish side FC Nordsjaelland.
The 26-year-old also made MLS history in June after scoring four goals in a 12-minute span against the Vancouver Whitecaps. It was the fastest four-goal display in the league's history.
Although San Diego are top of the West, Iloski is now targeting victory with Philadelphia in the East. He could make his debut against Toronto FC this weekend.
"I know the team is in first in the East and in the Supporters' Shield standings, so I want to come and help. I want to win," Iloski told the club website.
"We want to win MLS Cup. That's a goal from everyone here in the building, and something that I hope to help the team achieve.
"I wanted to stay in America, and after things with San Diego didn't work out, I looked around a little bit. Once I found out Philly was an option, it was pretty easy decision for me to make.
"Everyone knows the club is one of the best clubs in the league every year. So, I'm very excited to be here and excited to be back in MLS.
"I'm a very hard worker. I want to help the team. I want to win. I'll score goals and create chances for my teammates, but ultimately, I feel like I need to come in and earn my place.
"I think that starts with working really hard and proving to the players in the locker room and the staff that they can trust me."
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Philadelphia Union – Tai Baribo
Tai Baribo leads the Union with 14 goals, which is tied for the fourth highest in the league in 2025.
He has either scored or assisted in three of his last four MLS matches, while also bagging in the MLS All-Stars game against the Liga MX All-Stars.
Toronto FC – Theo Corbeanu
Toronto have been spearheaded in the final third by Theo Corbeanu, who has scored on five occasions, including two match-opening goals.
Corbeanu also scored the only goal when they managed to cause an upset against Western Conference leaders San Diego FC last month.
MATCH PREDICTION – PHILADELPHIA UNION WIN
Philadelphia have scored multiple goals in each of their last nine home league games. In the post-shootout era (since 2000), only one MLS team has had 2+ goals in 10 straight home regular-season matches in a single season (LA Galaxy – 10 in 2014).
Since May 2024, Toronto have lost 11 of their 18 road league matches against Eastern Conference opponents (W2 D5). Both of Toronto's wins in that stretch came at CF Montreal, as their last road win in conference play on U.S. soil came in April 2024 at Orlando City.
Since the beginning of the 2020 season, Philadelphia are unbeaten in their five home matches against Toronto (W4 D1). The Union outscored Toronto 16-2 over that span while keeping clean sheets in four of the five meetings.
In their last six league matches, Philadelphia have won three, drawn one and lost two. Toronto, meanwhile, have won two, drawn one and lost three in their last six.
